Classes, Workshops, and Private Lessons

Our Fundamentals class is designed to share our delight and expertise in cued group improvisational belly dance. Students will learn the basics of technique, improvisation mechanics, and movement vocabulary needed to dance in a group with no choreography needed over the course of 8 weeks. All experience levels, sizes, shapes, and genders welcome!

Each class begins with a brief dynamic warmup to prepare our muscles, ligaments, and minds for movement, and ends with static stretches to prevent stiffness, and increase joint mobility and muscle flexibility. In between, we study the technique used to create our movement vocabulary, as well as improvisation mechanics: rather than learning steps set in a choreography, we learn how to creatively string movements and their variations together to fit music at both slow and fast tempos - and about the cultural background and history of these movements, too!

Necessary Equipment: Water bottle, form-fitting workout clothes, bare feet OR dance studio shoes - ballet slippers or jazz shoes with a minimal heel are best. Hip scarves are a fun addition - those without coins are preferred! After registration, students will receive an email with more details.

When: 6pm -7pm Tuesdays or Wednesdays, for 8 weeks starting April 2 & 3, 2024.

Where: Springdale, AR - address shared after registration.

Fee: $100 for the 8-week session
